ah summer

Have I mentioned we LOVE the pool? As long as there's a bink involved Rylee will do anything, including sleeping in a pool. And the sunglasses make it so she doesn't get splashed in the eyes. win - win - win

Happy Flag Day

What? You don't celebrate FlagDay with presents and cake? Lame! Yesterday was Michael's birthday! Michael was telling Rylee about it being his birthday and "you know what that means? Daddy's dying" nice Michael, real nice. Hopefully, she doesn't understand that yet.

I was probably more excited for Michael's birthday than he was- just look at my creation!!! We kept it pretty simple this year by grilling up steaks the size of my plate for dinner (Michael's was BIGGER than the plate, and yes we have letovers), took in a movie (a-team, you know, your birthday-your choice) opened presents and demolished a golf course.

He said he had a good day so I consider that a success. Thanks for being born and making my life wonderful. I Love you.

a repeat

This is from a couple months ago when my sister Melissa came to visit. I'm not sure why I didn't post it then, but here it is now.

I love how Rylee doesn't take her eyes off of Chase, and when she puts her hand on his chest, and Chase pretending to suck on a binky, and sweet cousin kisses. just precious. AHHHH I miss them so much!!!! If you think Spring Creek should be in Texas say "I"

Take me out to the ballgame

Last night we went to "mormon night" at Mission Stadium. As we found our seat and the dude went around yelling "cold beer" I said to Michael "doesn't he know its Mormon night?" What is 'mormon night' you might ask, well, I did too. Apparently the Timberwolves in WI had a night each season where they invited special groups too, such as the mormons, to come watch the game with other mormons. Then he asked didn't I ever have a mormon night? Before retracting the question my answer was "every night is mormon night in Utah" They usually invite a popular LDS athlete to throw the first pitch and meet some fans. Ty Detmer was there last night (we weren't 'chosen' to meet him tho) and the LDS Missionaries in the area sung the National Anthem (which we also missed). Some of the inning entertainment was a tricycle race between a companionship. It was pretty funny to watch and they joked who better to participate in a cycling competition. And a friend of ours won Whataburger Wheel of Fortune and won us some free whataburger (not to be confused with THAT'S A BURGER as "what" is actually good :)

ANYWAY . . . . . . . . we had fun. And apparentely the missions winning 3-0 was nothing short of a miracle. Although Rylee isn't much of a missions fan, she cried through all the good plays. for HER sake, at least there were only two of them. {she doesn't quite understand the concept that cheering = GOOD} We'll cut her some slack this time.

Memorial Weekend

I've been DYING to get some good camping in for um, a few years now. I've since discovered that 'waiting' for summer to go camping in Texas isn't necessarily "smart". I'm slowly learning to change my mind set in that there really is no need to pack a sweatshirt, a battery-powered fan and netted shade is a MUST! {just to name a few}

I reserved a camp site and away we went. *Note to self* If there are reservations available two weeks before Memorial Day weekend there is probably a reason. To sum up there were alligaters in the water that had risen 6 feet so there was NO beach {all marshy grass} and more bugs than should exist in one campsite. Our friends Scott and Paige met us for the weekend so at least we had good company :) We woke up the next morning, admired some wildlife {birds, bunnies, deer, wild turkeys, a turtle and afor mentioned alligaters) packed up and headed to the gulf.
feeling patriotic

It was hot, so the ocean breeze was welcome and the water was PERFECT! We had a spot on the beach and we were going to set up camp again but decided to save ourselves the trouble and just made the day of it and headed home.

Not to worry, we cooked smores off our patio and even broke out the dutch oven. We spent the rest of our mornings watching movies, days at the pool, and nights game-ing it up with the comfort of the ac.
Rylee's "first" wrinkled toes. The gentle waves of the water rocked her to sleep every time :) what a trouper.

Rylee and her "aunt" Paige :)
